With the custom jaws prepared it was an easy matter to turn the underside of the lid, sand it and apply the Shellawax cream finish. The gripping force is evenly distributed around the rim of the lid so there is no marring of the finished surface.

I finished the box body with three coats of danish oil followed by the Beall buffing system.
