All right, I confess. That is actually my vacuum chuck, but it also works well as a friction drive. However, since I have it mounted on the lathe now, I might as well use it to clean up that stub....

In actual fact, the base on this bowl is wider than it needs to be, but for THIS form, THIS time, it felt right to me. The bowl finished with a maximum diameter of 5 1/4" and the diameter of the base where it contacts a surface is about 2 1/4". By the previously mentioned rule of thumb I should have reduced the base diameter to about 1 3/4", which would have put it right about where that outer groove is turned. Possibly that would have improved the form, but I am happy with it at this size. And that is really the only real test of a form since I do this as a hobby.
