With the holes sanded I mounted the blank between centers to turn a tenon on each end.

With the tenons cut I mounted it in the chuck with the top of the ornament facing the tailstock to bore the holes for the hanging finial and centerpiece mount.

I drilled all the way through the top and about ¼” deep into the bottom of the cavity since I am not installing a bottom finial on this one.

I then turned it end for end so I was gripping the ornament by the top.
