Now I need to make a lid for the box. The opening is about 2 3/4" so I cut a piece of 8/4 walnut to 3" square. I found the center of each face and made a dimple for the lathe centers to seat into, then mounted it between centers.

I turned a tenon on the face of the blank that will be the top of the lid and then mounted it in my chuck.
