I turned the square into a cylinder and started trying to fit the lid to the box.  I started by cutting a small tenon on the end of the piece, sneaking up on a good fit and testing often.  If you take off a hair too much you need to peel it down and start again.  It actually took me three tries to get it right on this one.  Once I was happy with the fit I excavated a recess in the middle to allow mounting the blank on my #1 jaws in expansion mode for turning the top surface of the lid.

With the lid mounted the other way around I turned, sanded and applied Shellawax cream as a finish.
